Activities and Events in Steamboat: Week of June 25 - July 1, 2010

Summer is here in Steamboat and the living’s easy! There are so many activities and events going on this weekend and coming week that if you manage to do half of them you are doing good!   • Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series — Brent Romick Rodeo Arena, 7:30 p.m.
    Cowboys and cowgirls compete at classic rodeo events. Barbecue will be sold starting at 6 p.m., and pre-rodeo entertainment runs from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the gate for adults and $8 for children ages 7 to 15. Children 6 and younger are free. Brent Romick Rodeo Arena at Howelsen Parkway and Fifth Street.
  • J. Mitch and the Electric Switch — Tugboat Grill & Pub, 10 p.m. $5 cover.
    The Colorado-based band is rooted in blues, funk, rock, soul, rhythm and blues and hip-hop grooves. 1860 Mount Werner Road.
  • Global dance festival — The Powder Room, 10 p.m. Free.
    Dance to the latest global dance beats with Denver DJ Walt White. 1865 Ski Time Square Drive, in Torian Plum Plaza.

  • Mainstreet Farmers Market — Sixth Street, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free.
    The Mainstreet Farmers Market features produce, food vendors, crafts and live music. 3Wire plays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.Sixth Street downtown between Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street
  • Free Summer Concerts: Big Kenny Howelsen Hill, 5 p.m.
    Big Kenny, of country duo Big & Rich, performs the first show of this year’s Free Summer Concert Series. Gates open at 5 p.m., activities start at 5:30, the opening act performs at 6 and Big Kenny goes on at 7. Learn about the concert series at www.steamboatfreeconcerts.com. FREE. Howelsen Hill.

    Strings Music Festival opens its season with violinist Sarah Chang and the Strings Festival Orchestra. Tickets are $55. Pine Grove and Mount Werner roads.
  • Missed the Boat- Mahogany Ridge, 10pm Free
    Don’t miss this local band, Missed the Boat, with their bluegrass, rock original and cover songs.

  • The Kingston Trio: Strings Music Festival— Strings Music Pavilion, 7 p.m.
    Legendary folk musicians The Kingston Trio, consisting of George Grove, Bill Zorn and Rick Dougherty, perform. Tickets are $50. Pine Grove and Mount Werner roads.

  • Flick ’n Float — Old Town Hot Springs, 8:30 p.m.
    A Flick ’n Float movie, “Twilight,” will be shown at 8:30 p.m. at Old Town Hot Springs. Swim from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for members and $12 for nonmembers. 136 Lincoln Ave.
