Hometown Heroes Celebration: Steamboat is Welcoming Home Our Olympic Athletes!

It’s time to party here in Steamboat, this Friday April, 2nd, as we welcome home our Olympic Athletes as they bask in the glory of 2010 Winter Olympic victories.

For many, the party is more than just a welcome home, but rather a dedication to the history that has shaped this town and the efforts that have gone towards making Olympic Athletes. It's about celebrating this year’s Olympic Athletes along with the generations past who have called Steamboat theirs!

So grab your cameras and your autograph books because there will be Olympic Athletes Galore! Check out the Schedule and see how many autographs you can get!

9:00 am-noon: Olympians will visit local schools
2:00 pm-5 pm: Athletes will be at Olympian Hall in Howelsen Lodge for autographs and photo opportunities
6:30 pm: Parade down Lincoln Ave.
7:00 pm: Hometown Heroes Celebration at 5th & Lincoln

Earth Hour Sat March 27th at 8:30pm. How will you participate?


Earth Hour is here again and we are ready to show our support by turning off as many lights and work stations in the ResortQuest properties on Saturday night at 8:30 pm. We will be asking all of our guests to participate as well and turn off any unnecessary lights in their condo or townhome they are staying in!

Earth Hour has recruited millions of people around the world along with 4000 cities in 88 countries who have officially switched off the power, to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative.

This 2010 effort is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community throughout the world. It is a call to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future. People across the world from all walks of life will turn off their lights and join together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet. Earth Hour is to show the world that there can be a solution to the threat of global warming and it is possible through collective action.

Remember that you can continue this energy saving practice on a daily basis, it is not only saving precious energy, lowering your energy footprint but you will also save money and quite a bit of it.

Fundraiser for the Free Summer Concerts to Continue! March 26, 2010

Have you ever been to one of the infamous Free Summer Concerts in Steamboat Springs, CO? Then you know how phenomenal it is to be in the clear mountain air, rocking out to awesome famous bands and dancing with friends and it’s all for free!

Well the Free Summer Concert Series is in trouble! And it needs your help to ensure that the concerts continue. All you have to do is come to the Old Town Pub on Friday night at 8:30 and pay $15 dollars that go to the cause while you get to dance to the fantastic bands Missed the Boat, and Little Laura’s Naked Blues Band. All it takes is $15 bucks that would well cover what it would have cost to see all those free concerts and you’re ensuring that your summer will still have this staple event!

Your $15 dollars admission gets you 5 door prize tickets; there will be auction items that include avalanche, Rockies and broncos tickets, mountain bike, snowboards and more! The Free Concert Series is always giving and it’s your turn to give to them. If you can’t make it to the event or if you are feeling more gracious than make a donation by calling 970.846.3352!

St. Patrick's Day Celebrations Are Keeping Steamboat Afloat with Green Beer

St. Patrick’s Day is here and the ‘Boat is floating on green beer, bubbly jams and fireworks!

The best places to be on this lucky Irish night will be to start out early on the mountain at Slopeside where they will be rocking out to Kip Attaway starting at noon. Get some grooves, some green beer, sunshine and search for that pot of gold. Tonight head to Gondola Square for the 7:30 pm Torchlight Parade and Fireworks put on by Steamboat Ski Resort. If you stay on the mountain find your way back to Slopeside or a little fancier at Café Diva then head to the Tugboat Bar and Grill for the John McKay Band playing at 10 p.m.

If all the green beer floats you to downtown Steamboat tonight, all the live music will aid in the pub crawl! These bands will give serious motivation to hear them all.

The Boathouse is starting early with Sam Ayer playing his acoustic rock from 4 pm till 7 pm, then on to the Broken Everlys at 10 pm.
Do your leprechaun dance up to the Tap House at 10pm to dance to DJs Also Starring, Ricky Prime and Pretty Ninja will be turning out some beats on 4 turntables.
Cross over to Old Town Pub who claim themselves the Guinness capital of Steamboat, to hear Chris Duarte and Bluestone Company starting at 9:30 throwing down some psychedelic blues and they just returned from a tour in Japan.
Cross over again to hit up Ghost Ranch Saloon where you will hear Euforquestra starting at 9pm. They are a 4 piece band known for their rock-style music with horn infusion.

If you are feeling a good celebration that includes your couch swing by Central Park Liquors who are having great St. Patrick’s Day liquor deals and then grab dinner to make at home from the Steamboat Meat and Seafood Co. who has a whole Irish menu planned for you!

Adaptive Stars of Tomorrow Camp in Steamboat Springs, CO

Adaptive Adventures run out of Steamboat Springs, CO is hosting the Stars of Tomorrow Youth Ski Camp March 20-22, 2010. This fun sports camp is for youth with physical disabilities who want to learn how to ski or would like to advance their skiing skills. The camp is about getting to know snow sports with quality ski lessons, private or group lessons, with trained instructors who share their passion of skiing with the kids.

The camp is designed for any kid from 6 to 20 yrs. old with physical disabilities, who are either new skiers, or intermediate skiers who would like to boost their skiing level, who are mono-skiers, 3 or 4 track skiers, visually impaired or bi-skiers. And it’s all meant to let the kids have fun, learn to ski, meet new friends, and explore the awesome Steamboat Ski Resort. The cost of the camp is very affordable with prices including lodging, skiing, and meals for participants and their families. But Adaptive Adventures also offers scholarship opportunities.
