Summer is in full swing and there is so much to do especially this weekend with the Steamboat Springs Hot Air Balloon Festival, the Art in the Park, the Cowpie Classic rugby tournament, Strings Music, Live Music at local venues and the weather has just been fabulous during the days! Friday July 9, 2010

  • Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series: Brent Romick Rodeo Arena: 7:30 p.m.
    Cowboys and cowgirls compete at classic rodeo events. Barbecue will be sold starting at 6 p.m., and pre-rodeo entertainment runs from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Howelsen Parkway and Fifth Street.
  • Brent Rowan and Friends: Strings Music Pavilion, 8 p.m.
    Nashville guitarist and part-time Steamboat Springs resident Brent Rowan will perform alongside former NFL player and country songwriter, Mike Reid, and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Hugh Prestwood. Tickets are $45 the day of the show.
Saturday July 10
  • 30th annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo: Bald Eagle Lake, 6 a.m.
    Watch more than 40 colorful hot air balloons take off from the launch field and fill the sky over Steamboat Springs. ResortQuest will be running free shuttles for our guests! No dogs or cars are allowed at the launch site. Vendors will sell souvenirs, coffee and breakfast foods.
  • Mainstreet Farmers Market : Sixth Street, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free
    The Mainstreet Farmers Market features produce, food vendors, crafts and live music by Nancy Cook. Sixth Street downtown between Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street.
  • Art in the Park: West Lincoln Park, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    The 36th annual Art in the Park features local artists. Walk, bike or take local transportation from Meadows Parking Lot. FREE. Call 879-0880. 13th Street and Lincoln Avenue.
Sunday July 11

  • Hot Peas ’N Butter: Strings Music Pavilion, 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
    This group’s infectious multicultural grooves include influences of traditional Latin music, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, jazz, folk and rock. A youth concert is at 11 a.m., and the family concert is at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $1 for children.
Wednesday July 14
  • Haochen Zhang : Strings Music Pavilion 8 p.m.
    Zhang was the youngest competitor at the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano contest, but that didn’t keep him from being named a co-gold medalist at the prestigious event. Now 20 years old, Zhang will perform works by Chopin and Brahms at the Strings Music Festival’s Wednesday Classical series. Tickets are $40 for adults and $5 for children.
Thursday July 15
  • Paula Cole : Strings Music Pavilion 6 p.m.
    Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Paula Cole performs for a Strings Annual Fund fundraising show sponsored by Bob and Mary Litterman. Tickets are $150, $90 of which is tax-deductible.
  • The Nadas : Ghost Ranch Saloon 9 p.m.
    Des Moines, Iowa-based The Nadas play rock music. Learn about the band at thenadas.com. Tickets are $10. Call 879-9898. 56 Seventh St.
