What's on in Steamboat Springs this week, July 24-30, 2009

The Steamboat Pilot Newspaper has posted this weeks event line-up in Steamboat Springs. From Sam Bush, to Abalone Dots, to the Farmers Market and Picnic Theatre, there's so much to do this weekend (and week)!

This Week at the Strings Music Festival

Friday, July 24 ~ Different Tempo. Darrell Scott Band and Abalone Dots, 8:00 p.m. This multi-instrumental master of Southern Country Rock is co-billed with the emerging folk/bluegrass sensation from Sweden.

Saturday, July 25 ~ Classical. Canada's celebrated Gryphon Trio performs a stunning multi-media concert of Masterworks and contemporary classical music; also joined by our Music Directors Andres Cardenes and Monique Mead in a gorgeous duet, 8:00 p.m.

Tuesday, July 28 ~ Denver Brass Quintet, Youth & Family Concerts 11:00 a.m. & 5:30 p.m. $10 adults, $1 kids High-energy music with "Rhythm and Brass!" and "High Adventures in Brass".

Wednesday, July 29 ~ Classical. 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition co-Gold Medalist. 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, July 30 ~ FREE Music on the Green at the Yampa River Botanic Park, 12:15 p.m. with Steve Boynton & Tim Cunningham (jazz)
Encore! Fundraising Concert at 6:00 p.m. Evening of dinner, drinks and a concert featuring Ruthie Foster (blues) at the stunning entertainment barn of Jim and Susan Larson in the heart of the valley

Friday, July 31 ~ Different Tempo. Ruthie Foster, 2009 Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year Nominee, 8:00 p.m.

Saturday, August 1 ~ Classical. This special Saturday night concert features Alberto Almarza, performing two contemporary pieces, one on the traditional Japanese Shakuhachi flute with Monique Mead playing crystal glasses, and the other a solo performed on a traditional flute, 8:00 p.m.
