Headlining the culinary portion of the festival weekend is Hosea Rosenberg, recent winner of Bravo network's "Top Chef: New York" series and executive chef at Jax’s Fish House in Boulder, CO. Hosea takes center stage in the Viking Outdoor Kitchen on Saturday during the Toast of Steamboat Grand Tasting from 3pm-6pm. Tyler Wiard, executive chef of Elway’s Cherry Creek restaurant, will also be on hand in the Viking Outdoor Kitchen to dazzle the crowd.

Throughout the festival, guests can participate in a number of wine tastings and pairings, gourmet dinners, educational seminars and culinary competitions. The festival also provides the rare chance to meet with owners, winemakers, Master Sommeliers, and senior representatives from wineries around the globe. Last year’s festival saw more than 90,000 combined wine, spirit, beer, and food samplings at Steamboat.

The festival commences Thursday with the Wine on the Mountain Kickoff Celebration from 5pm-7:30pm. Held at the top of the
Steamboat Ski Area gondola, this evening provides one-on-one time with winemakers, opportunities to sample reserve wines, savor inventive appetizers, music and spectacular views. This event also features an auction benefiting S.T.A.R.S (Steamboat Training Adaptive Recreational Sports), a local organization assisting handicapped skiers and visitors. Since 2004, TeamSage Productions has generated more than $92,000 for local Steamboat organizations from the wine festival.

Friday’s festival action moves to downtown Steamboat Springs from 4pm-7pm with the Stroll of Steamboat. It’s a late afternoon designed for carefree wine tasting, walking among restaurants and merchants offering nearly 300 wine and spirit selections.

The festival culminates Saturday with the Toast of Steamboat Grand Tasting from 3pm-6pm. Set at the foot of gorgeous Mt. Werner, the Grand Tasting will showcase over 400 domestic and international wines, food from Steamboat’s finest chefs, live entertainment and an array of luxury-related vendors. The Viking Outdoor Kitchen, featuring cooking demonstrations and celebrity chef competitions, is not to be missed.

Throughout the weekend, festival patrons have the opportunity to attend several winemaker dinners at area restaurants.

Wine industry experts, mixologists, Master Sommeliers and renowned chefs also host a number of wine and food seminars. Seminar topics range from the proper way to swirl and swish to comparing and contrasting wines from regions around the world. Others review food and wine pairings to supply attendees with recipes and knowledge for home entertaining.
