Steamboat Weekly Events and Activities: Week of Oct. 22-28

There are so many wonderful events and activities taking place in Steamboat this week that one may be left to wonder how to fit it all in, sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day!

Here are my picks for the top five must do/see activities:

Friday, Oct. 22, 2010

  • Lee Parker and Gregory Block-Harwigs L'Apogee 7 pm. Piano music by local jazz fusion musician Lee Parker together with the classical sounds of local artist and musician Gregory Block. Also check out Block's contemporary art currently on display in the upstairs gallery. FREE!
Saturday, Oct. 23. 2010
  • 20th Annual Pumpkin Festival-Brent Romick Rodeo Arena, 10:30 am. Sponsored by the Optimist Club of Steamboat Springs and TIC . Children can paint free pumpkins from 10:30 am until judging takes place at noon. Families one and all come check out this fall-themed festival! FREE

  • FREE African Dance Class-Bud Werner Memorial Library, Library Hall, 10 am. This is the fifth of six sessions in the Adult Beginning Dance Series. This series has featured a different free dance class every Sunday to help introduce the community to the art of dance.
Monday, Oct. 25, 2010
  • Story Time for Grownups-Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library, Noon. Yoga Instructor and Thai massage therapist Patty Zimmer and Mike Forney will share an hour of contemporary and classic short stories. Come spend your lunch hour in literary heaven! FREE

  • Expressions of the Spirit Writing Workshop-Come spend the afternoon with local writer and life coach Susan de Wardt as she leads this weekly exploration session. 465 Anglers Dr., Suite C, noon to 1:30. Call 970.846.6562 for more information.
