Steamboat Weekly Happenings: January 15th – 22nd

Tonight, Friday, Jan. 15th:

Ski Jam presents Keller Williams: The Steamboat Music Tent: 7 p.m. $15
One-man jam band and former Steamboat Springs resident Keller Williams comes back through town promoting his new album, “ODD,” a mash of acoustic styles, funk rhythms and wry lyrics. “Mine” Screening: Depot Art Center: 7 p.m. FREE
“Mine” is set in post-Katrina New Orleans and uses a documentary style to follow people trying to reunite with their pets in a city torn apart by natural disaster. Directed by Geralyn Pezanoski, “Mine” won the audience award for best documentary at the 2009 South by Southwest film festival. The event is part of the Bud Werner Memorial Library and Steamboat Springs Arts Council’s Third Friday foreign and independent film series. Saturday, Jan. 16th:

Ski Jam presents The Molly Ringwalds: The Steamboat Music Tent: 7 p.m. $15
The Molly Ringwalds give an all-out tribute to the 1980s with each show, touching on all the hit songs from an excessively dance-worthy decade. Sunday, Jan. 17th:

Ski Jam presents Super Diamond: The Steamboat Music Tent: 7 p.m. $15
San Francisco tribute band Super Diamond does everything it can to put out extremely lush versions of Neil Diamond’s greatest hits. Tickets for the show are $15 and are available at Steamboat Ski & Sport, All That Jazz and Christy Sports in Central Park Plaza; or online at www.skijam.net. Mama’s Boys Male Revue: Old Town Pub: 8:30 p.m. Cover TBA
The Mama’s Boys Male Revue provides singing and dancing renditions of Michael Jackson’s songs on its “Smooth Criminal Tour.” The all-male dance group, which promises “young good looks and washboard stomachs” on its Web site, is based in Las Vegas. Monday, Jan. 18th:

Acoustic Open Mic Night: The Boathouse Pub, 7 p.m. FREE
Local musicians Paul Geppert and Jay Roemer host an open mic night for acoustic music setups. This is a weekly event through the winter. Sign up starts at 7 p.m. Call 879-4797. 609 Yampa St.

Tuesday, Jan. 19th:

Bud Light Cowboy Downhill: Steamboat Ski Resort and Gondola Square:
4 pm: Cowboy Slalom Race: Which cowboy can finish first? Watch as these slick cowboys try to make it down the slope in one piece!
6 pm: Reckless Kelly :Gondola Square FREE Country rock group Reckless Kelly puts a raw edge any style of country music, packing intensity into its live shows. The band plays after the 36th annual Cowboy Downhill at the Steamboat Ski Area. Learn more about the band at www.myspace.com/recklesskelly. Call 879-6111. Wednesday, Jan. 20th:

Live Trivia: The Tap House Sports Bar and Grill: 6:30 p.m. FREE

Thursday, Jan. 21st:

Rocky Mountain Campfire Show: Masonic Lodge: 7 p.m.
Local musician and storyteller David Moran gives the first of seven weekly campfire music performances at the Masonic Lodge above Wild Horse Gallery off Lincoln Avenue. The performance includes original Western songs, cowboy poetry, jokes and entertainment for all ages. Proceeds benefit the Colorado Grand Lodge’s child identification program; the program is an effort to provide an identification system for children to use if a child is abducted. Friday, Jan. 22nd:

Missed the Boat: Mahogany Ridge Brewery and Grill: 10 p.m.
Steamboat’s own, Missed the Boat, has recently recorded their debut album “Rollin”, and they have been stunning listeners at live shows and over the airwaves throughout Colorado with their unique Americana-Rock sound.Call 879-3773. 435 Lincoln Ave.
