Steamboat is the Love Boat on Valentine’s Day: Six Alternative Valentine’s Day Ideas

There is love in the mountain air especially on Valentine’s Day and why shouldn’t there be? Whether you have your significant other, your favorite pet, or your favorite friends get out and celebrate the love! ResortQuest Steamboat always has a few suggestions of the traditional Valentine’s day ideas, however we also have some non-traditional suggestions for celebrating this day of inebriated Valentine's love!

WE LOVE LOVE LOVE STEAMBOAT. Show your love for your favorite mountain town by sporting your favorite collectors item “Steamboat” branded t-shirt or jacket... You know the one that your mom bought you when she visited last!

We Love the Mountains: Give a little love to mountains that entertain you so well. Join an eco-conscious or environmental preservation group like the Nature Conservancy or Friends of the Yampa… and there are many more.

We Love Our Neighbors! Give your favorite neighbor some valentine’s gifts from Fuzzywigs or the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory! You never know when you will need to borrow a cup of sugar.

Spoil a Pet: Spread the Love by volunteering to love a pooch or a kitty for an hour. The Routt County Humane Society always needs a helping hand walking the dogs, petting the cats, and if you really want to be someone’s valentine you will clean the dog kennel. The staff will love you forever.

Spoil a Stranger: Gather your unwanted gently used clothes and take them to Lift-Up of Routt County. You will help keep someone clothed and warm with your generosity and love!

Commit a random act of Love…no not like that you pervert! Give an extra tip to your barista for the guy before you who didn’t tip, talk to the cute old guy in the store, take your roommate out for a beer…do whatever fits you best.

So if this Valentine's you aren't feeling the traditional approach to this day of love, try So if this Si So if this Valentine's Day you aren't feeling the traditional approach to this day of love, then try one of the activities above or try your own!
