Best of Non-Skier Activities in Steamboat Springs -A Day Off the Mountain

Steamboat Springs is known for it's excellent Champagne Powder skiing and snowboarding. However, not everyone comes to Steamboat Springs to take-on the Mountain via skis and snowboards. Some families and individuals have varied interests, with some preferring a less physically aggressive, but equally enjoyable itinerary for their trip.

Here is a sample itinerary for non-skier and non-snowboarder activities you can enjoy during your ski trip to Steamboat Springs!

1. Try Something New! Try Steamboat's African Drum and Dance class this winter. Classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Art Depot, and include live drumming! If you've never tried an African Drum and Dance class, your first class is free. It costs $12 to drop in on each class afterwards. This is a great way to get your heart rate going and have a lot of fun doing so! Please call Jen at 970.846.6377 to sign-up.

2. After all that exercise, you'll want to relax and pamper yourself at the Rocky Mountain Day Spa. They also have a location in ResortQuest's Trappeur's Crossing- Trappeur's Day Spa. Choose between a Hot Stone, Thai, Flower Elixir, or other specialty massage; get a body detoxifying wrap, an exclusive Eminence Organic Facial, or a unique day spa package. We guarantee you'll be feeling as good as new! Please email or call our concierge (970) 870-4287 to make your appointment.

3. Join the local art community on the first Friday of each month for the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Steamboat Springs. The event begins at 5 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. The mission of the event is to promote the appreciation of the visual arts, and to support the local art community. With over 20 art galleries and shops participating in the event, this self-guided event promises to be part of a captivating evening. Visit www.steamboatspringsartwalk.com for more information.

4. Another fun way to get outside this winter and enjoy our lovely Steamboat Springs scenery is to try a winter horseback ride with Saddleback Ranch. This two-hour sightseeing tour will take you through a "Best Of" in the backcountry of Steamboat Springs. Some highlights include Mt. Werner, Sleeping Giant, and the Flattops to the southeast. Tours start at 8:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. Please email or call our concierge (970) 870-4287 to  book or for more information, or to schedule other great activities like snowmobile tours or dinner sleigh rides.

5. For a fun, family-bonding activity, try The Potter's Wheel. The Potter's Wheel is a paint-your-own pottery studio, perfect for a relaxing day with young and older children alike! Too cold or snowy to get up on the mountain, or have little ones that you'd like to occupy for a couple hours? This activity is perfect to let them and you get a little messy and have a lot of fun. And the best part is...you'll have a souvenir to take home with you to remember your trip to Steamboat Springs! Please call 970.879.4944 for more information.
